How offline inspections work
1
Open the app before you leave
Asset data and inspection forms sync to your device when you have signal. You can also pre-load a specific site before heading to a location with no connectivity.
2
Complete the inspection on site
Work through the examination form, equipment details, condition ratings, defect classifications, photos, and signature. Everything happens locally on your device.
3
Submit, report generated instantly
Hit submit. The Schedule 1-compliant report is generated immediately, no waiting, no back-office admin. If you have signal, it uploads straight away. If not, it queues and syncs when you reconnect.
4
Client can see it in their portal
The moment the report uploads, it appears in the client's self-serve portal. They have their certificate without you sending a single email.
Why offline capability matters for LOLER inspections
LOLER-regulated equipment is found in some of the worst environments for mobile connectivity. Underground utility maintenance, sewage treatment plants, pumping stations, and tunnels, may have no signal at any depth. Cold stores and refrigerated warehouses frequently block signals through thick insulated walls. Remote agricultural and construction sites may have no 4G coverage at all. Ship holds and below-deck compartments on cargo vessels are typically dead zones.
The traditional solution to inspecting in these environments is paper. An inspector carries pre-printed forms, completes them on site, and types them up when back at a desk with signal. This introduces a gap, sometimes hours or days, between the inspection and the report reaching the client. It also introduces transcription errors: handwriting misread, fields transposed, details omitted when typing quickly. The result is legally required records that are less accurate than they should be.
Lolerflow's offline mode replaces paper without any of the gaps. Asset data is pre-loaded to the device before the inspector leaves for site. The examination is completed on the device, with all mandatory Schedule 1 fields enforced, photos attached, and defects classified in structured fields. The report is generated on device the moment the inspector submits. When signal returns, everything uploads automatically. The client has their certificate without the inspector ever putting pen to paper.
Offline vs paper: what actually changes
Paper forms
โ Timestamp is when you wrote it, or later
โ Transcription errors when typing up
โ Fields missed under time pressure
โ Physical paper can be lost or damaged
โ Report reaches client the next day (or later)
โ No photos unless you email separately
Lolerflow offline
โ Auto-timestamped at exact moment of submission
โ No re-entry, data captured once on device
โ Mandatory fields enforced before submission
โ Data stored on device, backed up on sync
โ Certificate ready the moment you reconnect
โ Photos attached in-app, linked to report
Installing the Lolerflow app, no app store required
Lolerflow is a progressive web app (PWA). There is no App Store or Google Play listing to find, no installation approval process to navigate, and no software distribution policy to worry about. Inspectors install it directly from the browser in three steps: open the Lolerflow URL in Chrome or Safari, tap "Add to Home Screen" when prompted (or via the browser menu), and the app installs and appears on the home screen like any native application.
This matters for inspection companies whose inspectors may use company phones, their own phones, or shared devices. There is no licence-per-device restriction, no complex device management required, and updates deploy automatically, inspectors always have the latest version without needing to visit an app store.
Data security when offline is handled through local encryption on the device. Inspection data is not stored in plain text. When it syncs, it is transmitted over an encrypted connection to Lolerflow's UK-hosted servers. Inspection records never pass through or reside in jurisdictions outside the UK, which is relevant for companies working under contracts with NHS trusts, local authorities, or government agencies that have data residency requirements.
Benefits for inspection companies
No location limitations
Accept inspection contracts at any site, underground, cold stores, ship holds, remote rural locations. Connectivity is never a reason to turn down work.
Accurate, auto-timestamped records
Reports carry the exact time of submission, not the time they were typed up hours later. This matters for creating a legally defensible audit trail.
No transcription errors
Data is captured once on site. There is no second data-entry step where mistakes can be introduced. What the inspector records is what appears in the report.
Works on existing devices
Inspectors use the phones they already carry. No specialist hardware required, no company-issued devices needed, no per-device licences to manage.

Yes. The mobile app stores inspection forms and asset data locally on your device. You can complete a full thorough examination with no signal, on a factory floor, underground, or in a remote yard. When you reconnect, everything syncs automatically.
What devices does the Lolerflow mobile app support?+
Lolerflow works on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, as well as any desktop browser. There is no separate app to install, the progressive web app installs from your browser and works like a native app.
What happens to data if my phone dies mid-inspection?+
Inspection data is saved locally as you go, not just on submit. If your phone dies or the app closes unexpectedly, your progress is retained when you reopen it. Nothing is lost.
